FAQS-Title

What is a one-piece wheel?

The one-piece wheel is the most common type of aluminum wheel made. The one-piece wheel is a mold poured metal wheel that is formed into one piece.

Advantages
Wheels are very cheap to buy, you can purchase them anywhere from Sears to Walmart. They come in chrome with no assembly required.

Disadvantages
The majority of one-piece wheels are cheaply made and they are currently over saturated in the US. There is not a lot of room for designing and customization on the wheel, paint on the wheels can look sloppy and if you bend or crack the wheel it is pretty much done. The same finish is applied all over the wheel.

What is a two-piece wheel?

A two-piece wheel consists of a outer barrel and a center. The outer barrel can be rolled or welded. The center on the 2 piece wheel can be casted or forged. The center is usually fastened with torqued assembly bolts.

Advantages
The two-piece wheel has more options in sizes because it has a separate barrel and center. Also if the wheel becomes damaged the outer rim and center can be replaced separately instead of purchasing a entire new wheel. Easy to do custom colors because the center can be detached. There can be a combination of finishes on one wheel, ( chrome and polished, painted and chrome, polished and silver etc...)

Disadvantages
The two-piece wheel design does not offer as wide a range of applications as the three-piece wheel. The wheels can be expensive and if they are not assembled correctly they can leak air. The wheels have to be taken apart and resealed to do good paint jobs or powder coating.

What is a three-piece wheel?

The rim sections for three-piece wheels are normally spun from disks of aluminum. Its spun rim sections offer the ability to custom-tailor wheels for special applications that would not be available otherwise on one and two-piece wheels. The wheel consist of an inner outer and a center.

Advantages
Fully customizable, these wheels are very light weight for high performance. These wheels are available in a large range of offsets and finishes along with many different lip sizes from 2.5 inch lips to 11 inch lips. These wheels are are not saturated on the streets which makes them to stand out in the crowd. One can tell the difference in these wheels by the enhanced quality and performance of the vehicle which ultimately makes them worth every penny.

Disadvantages
EXPENSIVE and if not assembled correctly they can leak air. The wheels have to be taken apart and resealed to do good paint jobs or powder coating.

What is powder coat paint?

Powder coat is a paint that is sprayed on the wheel then put in an oven to cure or bake onto the wheel.

Advantages
The paint last for a longer time on the wheel, The paint can with stand more of natures elements, powder coating is not that expensive

Disadvantages
The powder coat is not a 100% color match, its more like 90%  match, the powder coat is harder to strip off the wheel, two and three-piece wheels have to be taken apart to paint then reassembled

What is custom paint?

custom paint is an exact color match of the paint that you request, either by using color codes or if the paint is sent in by the customer

advantages
The color matches 100%, looks good

disadvantages
The paint is easier to chip, doesn't last as long, expensive, two and three-piece wheels have to be taken apart to paint then reassembled.

Three Basic Wheel Finishes

Polished: Polished wheels have no finish on them whatsoever; they have simply been polished to a high shine. Polished wheels can take long periods of time to restore to their original luster. However, with a little elbow grease, nicks and scratches can be buffed out like they were never there.

Machined/Clear Coated: Machined wheels have been polished and clear coated to protect their shine. Machined wheels are easier to care for than their unfinished polished counterparts

Chrome: Chrome plating an aluminum wheel is a three-step process which involves plating the wheel in copper, nickel, and finally chrome.

Don't clean hot wheels; wait until they cool. Water dries much faster at higher temperatures. Thus, cleaning wheels while they are hot may cause your mild soap solution to dry too quickly leaving spots or a film of soap on your wheels
