Never Expected Wheels was started by three brothers: Sherod, Bryan and Rayshaun Williams. Growing up in Cleveland OH, the Williams brothers were surrounded by Ford, GM and Chrysler. This connection to the automobile industry has made a significant impact on their lives and it has been a life long dream of theirs to make a major contribution to the industry in some type of capacity.
While completing an Electrical Engineering degree at Ohio University, Sherod had the honorable pleasure of meeting Craig Love, who is the engineer that designed the hot rod classic Plymouth Prowler. Meeting him and discussing the concepts and visions behind his designs greatly inspired Sherod to come up with creative and innovative ways to customize automobiles. Instantly he thought, what better way to customize an automobile than adding some custom wheels that compliment and enhance a vehicle. From that day forward, Sherod knew he would be designing wheels for the rest of his life.
Around the turn of the century Sherod, Bryan and Rayshuan noticed a change in the custom wheel industry. Plus size wheels were becoming very popular and the spinning wheels put everyone in a trance. But after a few years, all the wheels began to look the same and the creativity and style of wheels had fallen off. They knew this was their time to jump into the game because they had all the essential skills, desire and ability to design some of the best wheels on the streets. Rayshaun would serve as the mastermind behind many of the creative designs, Bryan would be the hands on mechanic who would make sure all the nuts, bolts and fitments were in place and Sherod would be the strategist who would ensure that their plan was executed successfully and everything would get done to the highest possible standard.
In 2004, already having several years worth of sketch designs in their archives, Ray, Bryan and Sherod came together and decided it was time to execute their plan and put their ideas in action, and from there Never Expected Wheels was born. They started reaching out to people in the industry to make connections that would be vital to their success. While working with the contacts they made in the industry they continued to sketch designs and put them on a computer aided drawing program. They meet with different vendors and manufacturers who had the capability to build, box and ship a quality product.
The name “Never Expected” was chosen because this company brings a fresh, new product line to the industry that is radically outside the box; N.E.W. puts no limitations on what can be done. Our first line of wheels debued in the winter 2006 edition of DuPont Registry Celebrity car magazine. This line consisted of the Cleveland Wheel (Rep1) and a 3-way spinning wheel (Hazmats). Although the initial line never took off as desired, in 2007 they continued in their walk of persistence, patience and faith, and took all of their valuable learning experience and put together
our second line of wheels. This line consisted of the Vintage, Myth and recently introduced Royalty wheel. These are two and three piece wheels available in sizes ranging from 19”-28” and are built to order. These wheels are available in any offset and color. RIDES magazine was the first to introduce the signature Vintage wheel in their January 2008 edition RIMSHOT. N.E.W has received great responses from this line the second they were introduced. N.E.W. has been contacted by major sports and entertainment clients as well as car enthusiasts from all over the world. The company’s current and future success can be attributed to the fact they love what they do and they are constantly coming up with new ideas that will shape the wheel market of the future. They are devoted to designing the most innovative wheels in the market and they will continue to raise the bar. Currently, they are working on several prototypes which include virtual wheels, green Wheel and a new line for women.
Along with building some of the world finest 2 and 3 piece luxury custom wheels, N.E.W. is deeply invested in building our communities and keeping a positive, safe atmosphere around us that promotes growth and prosperity for all.
